Voyager 1: A Journey Beyond Our Solar System

In 1977, NASA launched Voyager 1, a spacecraft designed to explore the farthest reaches of space. Originally meant to study planets like Jupiter and Saturn, it has now traveled billions of miles beyond our solar system and continues to send important data back to Earth.

The Mission

Voyager 1’s first job was to take close-up pictures of Jupiter and Saturn. It showed us details like the Great Red Spot on Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. After completing this task, it kept going farther and farther away from Earth.
